James’ role at IGD is to help businesses anticipate and cope with strategic events, including economic pressures, geo-political change, social developments and environmental stress.

James is well known for speaking at both UK and international events and provides interviews for TV, radio, and the press. He also creates original reports and articles for IGD.

James has worked with clients across the entire grocery industry as well as with non-industry groups such as government departments, financial businesses, and NGOs.

James joined IGD in April 1999 and has served in several roles, becoming Chief Economist in 2004.

Prior to joining IGD, he worked for Hillsdown Holdings, Northern Foods and Rank-Xerox.

Roger Harrabin

Roger Harrabin is one of the media’s most influential voices on the environment, energy and climate change. As Energy and Environment Analyst he reported for the BBC for over 30 years.

Roger has been a global pioneer in environment reporting. He was founder presenter of the BBC environment programme Costing the Earth and has won many awards for his work in radio and TV. His quest for impartiality led him to broadcast two three-part series on Radio 4 tackling the risks and uncertainties in climate science and technology. His reporting on new topics has often been trend-setting – he was, for instance, the first mainstream reporter to highlight the central role that energy would play in the environment. He has interviewed many influential figures including Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair, Ban Ki Moon, Al Gore and Sir David Attenborough. Roger’s achievements have been widely recognised. He is an Honorary lifetime fellow of St Catharine’s Cambridge; Associate Fellow, Green College Oxford and Wolfson College, Cambridge and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Cranfield University for work on the environment.

The Baking Forum takes place on Friday 19th May 2023 at The Queens Hotel, Leeds.

The daytime conference starts at 9am with registration and refreshments and closes at 5:30pm. The Gala Dinner starts from 6:30pm with a Drinks Reception. Guests will be called to dinner at 7:30pm and the evening ends at midnight.

Your ticket includes access to the daytime conference, including 3 refreshment breaks and lunch and access to our exhibitors. Your ticket also includes access to the evening Drinks Reception and Gala Dinner until midnight. The Gala Dinner includes a glass of prosecco on arrival. All other drinks are to be purchased directly at cash bar (including any wines/drinks for your table).

The Gala Dinner is Business Suits (with or without ties) and cocktail/party attire with a nod to our theme of 1920’s (optional) – think Peaky Blinders or The Great Gatsby!
